BR Cohn '21 Sonoma Valley Block 3 Cabernet Sauvignon
This small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon offers a complex and sophisticated flavor profile. On the nose, aromas of black currant, cassis, and dark chocolate intermingle with hints of vanilla and oak, resulting in an inviting and alluring bouquet. On the palate, this wine showcases a full-bodied structure with firm tannins and a beautiful balance between fruit and acidity. The flavors of ripe blackberry, plum, and black cherry are layered with espresso, tobacco, and leather notes all combining for a round smooth finish.
Planted in 1974 by founder, Bruce Cohn, Block 3 is the oldest vineyard block at the Olive Hill Estate. Extremely low yield, small concentrated berries produce an extracted medium body wine. Upon harvest, the berries were cold-soaked for five days and fermented in small lots. 50% underwent extended maceration and 100% completed malolactic fermentation. The best barrels of Block 3 were selected and blended, then aged for 20 months in three year air-dried tight-grain Taransaud, Sylvain Reserve and Bel Air Volupte barrels.
